CNY Holiday Back Home – Part 2
by Simon Lee | No CommentsAlas on the day before I went back to Singapore, I get to meet all my ex-college mates. Though it is just a meeting over lunch, but it is still good as most of them I have not seen them for more than 7 years. They still look the same though which is good so I can easily recognized them. Maybe what changed for them will be their lifestyle and status. Some of them are married while some have kids already. Others seemed to be climbing higher up the ladder of their career. But it is good to catch up with them and we get to exchange our experiences over the past few years. Everyone are busy with their work and I am glad that they are all doing well in their career and personal life.
I get to meet few of my high school friends after that. Had a good time of fellowship at one of the friend house. Good to catch up with them while talking nonsense at times. Hahaha… For some, wedding seemed to be drawing closer for them. Well, everyone been asking when I am going to find myself a girlfriend and settle down. And every time, I gave the same standard answer to them that I have not find the right one yet. Hey, finding the right partner is important you know?
Anyway, I manage to bring my grandma and family out for dinner too. My grandma is happy to see me. But I felt sad for her and the condition she is in now. Seemed like age been catching up to her. I really do hope I can find a life partner this year so that my grandma can see her and I really hope that my grandma can attend my wedding as well.
The rest of the time is spend on packing my luggage. My flight is an early one on Saturday noon. somehow, I left my hometown this year with a heavy heart probably I am concern for my grandma and family. No pictures to showcase too this time. Not much opportunity to snap shots too due to rain and all. Yeap!
CNY holiday back home – Part 1
by Simon Lee | No CommentsI was back in Kuching for CNY holiday since 13th February afternoon. Everything was quite rush for me before I even went to the airport. Good thing MAS implemented on-line check-in so I am able to skip the physical part. Should thanks Gene and Alan for sending me to the airport though. Else,I probably be late. Managed to reach Changi airport early for late lunch after I exchanged my printed boarding pass with the genuine one. It was pretty swiftly done and there are plenty of time left to eat, fellowship and do some last minute shopping. Well, I did the shopping after I went into the boarding area. Bought a Burberry perfume for my sister. Never knew how it smelled like as I just took the box and pay at the counter before proceeding to the boarding gate for my flight.
Well, the flight was delayed for about 30 minutes and I actually fell asleep while waiting for the plan to take off. Apparently, there are many flights taking off at the same time, so the plane I am in have to wait for clearance from the control station before taking off. Service for MAS airline was not up to standard for this flight probably due to the lack of manpower. They usually have about 4 to 5 staff serving but this time only 3 served us all. But the whole experience was good and smooth. I ended up reaching Kuching airport at about 330pm which was almost an hour later than what was supposed to be if there was no delay.
First thing I did when I reached home was change to singlet and short and check my FB, email and a glass of Jack Daniel’s plus Sprite. Alas, the drink was wonderful. We had reunion dinner early at about 6pm which is earlier than my normal dinner timing in Singapore. I don’t usually eat dinner till 8pm most of the time. Food was good nonetheless. Didn’t bother to bake any cakes this year around maybe because I am just too lazy. Plus, there was not enough ingredients to bake anyway. So instead, I enjoyed CNY eve shows on TV till 2am before I call it a day.
First day of CNY, I woke up at 12noon with a splitting headache. What an experience to have on first day of the Lunar New Year. I quickly got ready and went to my grandma’s place for a short visit. It was quiet at grandma place this year as they are not celebrating since it is less than a year after my grandpa passed away last year. None of my relatives was spotted this time except for my aunt and uncle. My cousins couldn’t even be bothered to go anymore. Maybe because this time there isn’t any ‘ang pow’ for them to collect. After that, we went to my aunt’s place for a while before heading home where I went to bed at 4pm due to my headache.
It is only on the second day that I started to go to some friend’s place. Met some old friends and some new one too. This is what CNY all about isn’t it? Fellowship with one another even when you met for the first time. My friend, Karen, brought me around so ya, thanks to her for the ride. Well, third day, not much to say except I just rot and decay at home whole day playing PSP and FB and lazying around. Only got out of the house for a while for Kolo Mee dinner with my parents and bought myself a cup for Latte from Starbucks after that. Then it’s home sweet home for movie and work. Argh, I hope Wednesday will be better and I hope I can get to use the car so I can go visit my friends. And of course I wanna visit my grandma too. Well, time to sleep and blog again.
January coming to an end…
by Simon Lee | No CommentsIt felt like only yesterday that we just entered into the year 2010 and already a month has already passed. Yes, January is coming to and end soon. Indeed time just flew by swiftly without us realizing it especially when we are busy with our daily life, work and so on. Things have been crazily busy for the past few weeks at work with lots of meetings, user support, workstation setup and piling up by the days. Really felt the strain and tiredness from work that I just wanted to sleep each time I reached home. Really don’t feel like doing anything or go anywhere once I am home.
I didn’t realized that it is end of January till few days ago and I still have my claims yet to be submitted. Sigh! Can’t wait for CNY to come so I can go back home to relax and chill with my friends back home. I really need a break from all this and re-focus my life back on track. Few days left to my first 21 days fast of the year and I am really praying and hoping for more good things to come especially career wise and relationship wise. Yeah, this year is a year of breakthrough for me. A year where more good things will happen to me and I will definitely see prayers being answered.
I shall not let my busy work schedules and stress affect me in any way. I shall think positively and keep on believing that my breakthrough is coming to me soon or sooner that I expected. My God can supply all my needs and He will blessed me exceedingly and above all that I could think of or imagine. Amen!!!
Happy New Year 2010!!!

Anyway, I am looking forward to my diving trip on 17 July. Been counting down the days to the day of the trip. My exam is coming up too and I hv to study for exam before that. Exam is on 4 July. Oracle DBA exam. This is gonna be difficult to pass. But I think if I study, I shd be able to pass with no problem.

Moving back to Expo for service
by Simon Lee | Comments OffAfter 2 years serving at Jurong West premise since my cell group moved there when Jurong service was started to accommodate the growing members in the church, I am finally moving back to Expo for service and duty. Definitely going to miss Jurong ushering though and all my fellow ushers and my team. I think the gonna miss me too. Haha…
Anyway, I believed that the moved to Expo is so timely. Perhaps it is time for me to move back to Expo to serve there and see growth in myself as well as my ministry and of course to up my level of duty. After serving in Jurong for 2 years, I guess pretty much that I have grown a lot from there and it is time to bring my experiences and growth and double or triple it when I am at Expo. Of course duty in Expo will not be as easy as in Jurong due to the size of the hall but I guess I have to think big and enlarge my capacity in terms of the way I serve, think, plan and execute my plan.
Pastor always say that when you have grown to a certain level you knew you cannot outgrown from it, the time has come for you to move on to a bigger challenge and new playground. For me, I guess this is the case as duty in Expo would be a new challenge and new playground for me, although I have served in Expo before. It is different this time around as expectation of me will be higher than before. And I have to pickup skills of serving in a bigger hall like Expo after not serving there for so many years. No time to slack or be slow in learning. Gotta be fast to catch up or I will be left behind.
Read Matthew 20:20-28. It talk about Greatness is Serving. To serve is not to human but for the glory of God. We are to serve one another no matter where and when. =)
Going to the gym
by Simon Lee | Comments OffI just signed up for Fitness First last Tuesday with my colleague. This is really something quite impromptu although I planned to sign up for gym membership. At first, we we just thinking of surveying the gym to see what facilities they have since it is very near our work place. But we met another colleague there who is already a member and we find out that we might be able to tap onto the membership promotion which he had. So we talked to the promoter there and the manager as well and they agreed to match the same promotion. I guess that they just wanted out business. Nonetheless, I am now a member of Fitness First and now I have excuse to push myself to really workout and lose that fats of mine.
Time to really get in shape for me. I went to the gym for the first time to meet a trainer there and went through some routine. Felt like dying cos I have not done this kind of vigorous exercise for many donkey years. Guess it is not too late to start now huh? Since I want to get my 6-packs, gain back my fitness level and to lose weights, I guess signed up for gym membership is a good thing because I will push myself to exercise since I have paid for the membership fee.
Targets:
1. Lose weights – 6 months time from now
2. Gain back fitness level – by Nov 09
3. Tone up my body – End of 2009
Can I do it? I don’t see why not. I will not let what I have paid for the gym fees go to waste. Gonna hit the gym 3 times a week. =)
Link between blog and Facebook
by Simon Lee | Comments OffI added a link from my blog to my Facebook called Mirror Blog. Very cool becoz can sync all the blog entries into my Facebook and I can even update blog from Facebook itself and it will do a sync to my blog account. Cool huh?? I didn’t know Facebook is so cool until I really explore the features it offered bit by bit. Definitely gonna stick to Facebook for a long time to go. Haha… =)
